Let It Snow…

Hi everyone,

Bobby here. Hope you’ve all had great week.

Firstly, both Nick and myself would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new Twitter followers, Facebook ‘Likers’ and YouTube…err…Contacts? It is “Contacts” on YouTube now, isn’t it?

Yeah, so basically a big “Hello” to all our new social media connections. We hope you enjoy the site and gain a lot from it. If you haven’t signed up already, please take the time to check out our free content. There are plenty of useful videos available to non-members. If you like what you see, we have a wealth of guitar lessons in our members section to suit all levels, from beginner to advanced.

I’m writing this blog from a backstage dressing room in a very snowy Chemnitz, Germany. I’m still on the road with Brit Floyd and will be for another 7 weeks. Tonight will be our last show in Germany, before we head off to Holland, via Luxembourg.

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but touring is both demanding and fun. For me, personally, playing so many shows with long sets and lengthy sound checks mainly takes its toll on my fingertips, especially when it comes to bending strings so frequently. Therefore, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a couple of tips that may help you, if you find yourself in a similar environment.

Firstly, applying surgical spirit to your fingertips and letting it dry before playing will toughen the skin. Secondly, applying a product such as “Germolene New Skin – Liquid Plaster” will effectively add an extra, albeit temporary, layer of skin to your fingertips.

Both of these products should only be used if you’re really desperate and not as a substitute for letting your calluses build up naturally, but it’s reassuring to know that help is at hand if you find your fingers hurting at any point.

Anyway enough of my yackin’. Thanks for continuing to learn guitar online with Frethub.

Have a great week ahead,

Bobby and Nick
