On The Road Again

Hope you’ve had a very productive week.
Well, it appears we may have spoken too soon when we optimistically announced the arrival of summer in our previous Blog.
I’m back on tour again for the next few weeks with Brit Floyd. We’re completing our UK summer tour and it’s now festival season.
We headlined the Garden Stage at the Isle Of Wight Festival last Thursday. It was a fun day, but severe weather conditions, heavy rain and the cancellation of several ferries, resulted in a number of acts being turned away due to late arrival and some failing to get to the island at all.
I’m grateful I had the foresight to invest in a good pair of wellies before entering the site, because it was a very muddy affair. Brit Floyd took the stage 40 minutes later than scheduled and luckily, the rain held out for most of our set.
Incidentally, if you’ve never played an outdoor gig before, be prepared: Playing with cold hands can be very difficult indeed. Even in June, it can still be chilly here in the UK and sometimes the temperature can prevent your fingers from doing what your brain tells them to do! I would compare the sensation to those dreams you sometimes have when you’re trying to run away from something and it feels like you’re running through treacle! Did anyone else have those nightmares as a kid? No? Okay, maybe it was just me!
In other news, Nick’s exciting new module entitled “Funk Rhythm Guitar” is currently being edited and will soon be available to members in our ever-growing Intermediate Level section. This series of lessons is an in-depth rhythm guitar study, full of tips and tricks. It features all the essential funk chord shapes and inversions you’ll ever need to know. Even if funk isn’t your thing, clean, funky playing crops up in all kinds of music, from jazz to blues to metal, so this will be a very valuable and rewarding course to study.
Right, I’m due on stage in an hour, so I’d better get ready.
